About Us

About Midtown Martial Arts

Building Strong Families.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to build strong families through disciplined, high-standard TaeKwonDo training that develops confidence, character, and resilience. We provide a structured environment where students of all ages are challenged to grow physically and mentally while learning the value of respect, perseverance, and accountability. Through consistent instruction and earned achievement, we aim to shape leaders who demonstrate integrity and strength both on and off the mat. Our commitment is not only to develop skilled martial artists, but to cultivate individuals and families who carry these principles into every area of life.

Our Values at Midtown Martial Arts

Our school is grounded in the traditional Tenets of TaeKwonDo, whose core principles guide our instruction and shape the culture of our training environment.

Courtesy

Students are taught to show respect to instructors, parents, and peers through words, actions, and attitude. Courtesy creates a disciplined and positive training environment while reinforcing manners and accountability that carry into school and home life.

Integrity

Integrity means doing what is right even when no one is watching. Students learn to take ownership of their effort, be honest about their performance, and hold themselves to a high standard. This builds trust, responsibility, and strong personal character.

Perseverance

Progress in martial arts is earned through consistent effort. Students learn to push through challenges, refine their skills, and stay committed even when improvement takes time. This mindset develops resilience that benefits them in academics, athletics, and life.

Self-Control

We teach students how to manage emotions, focus attention, and act with discipline under pressure. Self-control builds confidence and leadership while helping children make better decisions both inside and outside the dojang.

Indomitable Spirit

Indomitable spirit is the refusal to quit. It is the determination to stand back up after failure and continue striving toward excellence. This principle empowers students to face adversity with confidence and courage.

Our Story

Every school has a beginning. Ours started with a simple opportunity and a willingness to say yes.

Midtown Martial Arts was established in 2004 after a local YWCA Director reached out with an opportunity. The YWCA had an unused dance studio available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and asked if Taekwondo classes were still being taught. The response was simple: why not? What began in that small borrowed space with a handful of students quickly grew into something much larger. Word spread through families and friendships, and more students began showing up each week. It became clear that the program was filling a need in the community for structured, disciplined martial arts instruction grounded in strong values. As enrollment increased, we moved to the Whiteside Community Center where the gymnasium provided more room to train. Classes continued to grow, and with that growth came the realization that Midtown Martial Arts needed a permanent home. The demand for consistent mat space, expanded class offerings, and long-term stability led us to establish our own dedicated facility in Midtown Tulsa.Today, Midtown Martial Arts operates from the Ranch Acres Shopping Center near 41st and Harvard. While our space has evolved, our mission has remained the same: to build strong families through disciplined Taekwondo training rooted in respect, perseverance, and personal accountability. We are proud to serve students of all ages in a unified environment where character development matters just as much as physical skill. From a borrowed dance studio to a thriving community of families training side by side, Midtown Martial Arts has grown steadily through consistency, high standards, and a commitment to long-term impact. Our story continues to be written each time a student earns a belt, overcomes a challenge, or grows in confidence both on and off the mat.
